At the end of April you prayed for an urgent health need.  Our worker thanks you for the prayers and reports that the health issue is much better–another surgery and still slow mending but no cancer.  Continue to pray for her as she as on the field and away from family and that her Dad in the states will continue to heal well.

‘Mind your manners! ‘–  As I was growing up I would hear this phrase often to remind me to use words such as ‘Please’ and ‘Thank You’.  These were words of respect that I was to use as I asked someone for something and responded with gratitude for something I had received.   So many times we have no problem coming to God with our wants and needs and we often say ‘Please’, but how often we forget to say ‘Thank You’.   We are reminded in James 1:17 that ‘every good and perfect gift comes from God’ – whether they be spiritual, physical, or material – and there are so many.   Years ago, I had a friend who always included in his prayers these words – ‘Thank You for all the...

November: Prayer and Thankfulness

What we recognize as the first Thanksgiving feast was celebrated in 1621 by the pilgrims of the Plymouth colony along with 90 Wampanoag Indians.  The pilgrims had suffered through a devastating winter in which nearly half of them had died.  Without the help of the Indians, all would have perished.  After the first harvest, Governor William Bradford proclaimed a day of thanksgiving and prayer to God which lasted for 3 days.  Two years later in 1623, a period of drought was answered by colonists with a proclamation of prayer and fasting which resulted in another thanksgiving celebration when rains came during the prayers.  Later that year Governor Bradford proclaimed...
