‘By All Means – Praise the Lord!’ –  We’ve all had those moments when God has answered a specific prayer and we give thanks and praise for what He has done for us.  BUT Paul reminds us that we are to come to God praying with thanksgiving and praise even before God answers our prayer (Philippians 4:8). I was reminded of this again yesterday at church as we worshipped together singing these words written by Fanny Crosby:   ‘Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, Let the earth hear His voice. ‘Praise the Lord’ – It’s so easy to get discouraged as we face the challenges of each new day. I read recently that the Psalmist David began and ended the last 5 Psalms he wrote with the phrase ‘Praise ye the Lord’ which also means ‘Hallelujah’. David faced many challenges during his lifetime – enemies, personal issues, death of a child, battles, tough decisions, etc. Yet even when he faced hardship, his thoughts and heart would turn to God as he remembered God’s continuous care and guidance during those difficult times. October: Prayer and Praise

We all love to hear words of praise from others whether we deserve it or not.   In 2 Samuel 22:4, David said ‘I will call upon the Lord, Who is worthy to be praised’.  Unlike us, God is worthy of ALL our praise.  There is a difference in praising God for Who He is and thanking Him for what He has done.  We can praise Him as we pray, sing, meditate on scripture, open our hearts to His voice, and even enjoy His creation.  Praising God can even lift our spirits as we focus on the One who is always willing to carry our burdens.   David wrote many of his songs of praise as he was burdened by guilt and fearful of his enemies.  We read these encouraging words in Psalms 146:1,3...
