Call to Prayer for January 15, 2018

‘New Beginnings from an Old Past’ (thoughts shared by Daphne Youngblood, Support Staff for Georgia WMU/WEM) – January is a time to review the past year and make adjustments where necessary. The new year allows us the opportunity to begin again with a healthier direction. Do you know what lies ahead for you this year? The good news is that we can trust and spend time with the one that does? It says in Genesis 1, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Making plans or goals is fine but not at the expense that we do not listen to the Father and creator of all. We need to learn to hear His voice. It says in James 4:8, “Draw near to God and He will draw...

Call to Prayer for January 1, 2018

As we begin 2018, we have the opportunity of new beginnings, new opportunities, new relationships, new experiences – God is always surprising us with His amazing presence and blessings as we journey through each new year – pray with me that 2018 will be one of those years that will amaze us as we open our hearts and hands to all God has prepared for those who love Him.   The following was originally posted on 1/4/16 and I wanted to share it with you again as we begin 2018:   ‘The Gift of Another Year’ – The gifts have all been given and unwrapped, the trees and decorations (mostly) put away, the parties and holiday events are no longer on our calendars – all of this has...

Call to Prayer for January 30, 2017

‘Preparing for a New Year’ – (thoughts shared by Karen Pace, Consultant for Georgia WMU/WEM) – Preparing for a new year often means cleaning up the mess from the year before!  Ever feel like there’s no end in sight to getting things organized, cleared up, or put away?  Or maybe you think your life is a mess with too many regrets or bad decisions so you’re ready to start a new year hoping things will be better.  Chaos takes over space very quickly if we don’t manage it daily.  The same thing happens spiritually if we are not careful.  Start with a little neglect here, some busyness there, and by the time we add a good dose of apathy our hearts and minds are full of other...

Call to Prayer for January 23, 2017

‘Preparing for a New Year’ – (thoughts shared by Daphne Youngblood, support staff for Georgia WMU/WEM) – As we prepare for the New Year, we must, as Americans, prepare for new leadership of our country. This week over 31 million people in the US viewed the presidential inauguration. Regardless of who you voted for, we must keep in perspective what all this means for those of us that trust in the one true King.  We must remember that our God is the creator and sustainer of all.  Proverbs 21:1 was read aloud after our new President was sworn in office.  The verse says, “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord; He directs it like a water course wherever He pleases.” ...

Call to Prayer for January 2, 2017

‘Preparing for a New Year’ – (thoughts shared by Lisa Thompson, Vice President of Georgia WMU/WEM Executive Board) – When I was a teenager, New Year’s Eve was spent at the church for Watchnight services.  There were skits, musical numbers, and other “creative” offerings that may or may not have fit into the theme of “watching”. My memories include acting in some pretty silly skits and playing piano with my best friend, sometimes as background to some of the youth group skits. Most of the youth group acts were probably not very thought-provoking or serious, even if we thought we had a message. Somehow the serious part of the service is in the background of my mind. I...
