Call to Prayer for March 6, 2017

‘Fruit of the Spirit is Joy…’ (thoughts shared by Daphne Youngblood, Support Staff for Georgia WMU/WEM) – For the month of March, we will be sharing about Joy. Last month we talked about how love was given to us first by God and how that changed our hearts and how we love others. I will share how Joy has a major part in how we glorify the Father along our journey. As we live out life on mission, as well as our daily walk, what do others see? Do they see someone that is joyfully responding as the Lord would?  We must be aware that what is inside our hearts will come out in life. We must be diligent in keeping our vessel sea worthy or we will fail in the storms of life....

‘Preparing for a New Year – Jesus is My Joy!’ – (thoughts shared by Gail Silver, State Endowment Consultant for Georgia WMU/WEM) – For me, a new year holds promise and hope.  The promise of growing closer to the Lord as I seek Him daily has strengthened my faith to believe that He will do what He says.   The hope I have for the spiritual growth of my children, grandchildren and friends as I watch God working in their lives is based upon the power of the Holy Spirit to convict, comfort and advocate for them. In early December, the challenges of chronic illness of family members and friends along with concerns about various situations had a grip on me.  One morning during...

‘Joy in the Journey – Are We There Yet?’ – How often do we hear these words from the back seat as we travel – ‘are we there yet? ‘.  Even as adults, we get impatient about where we are going – we get excited about getting to our destination BUT we forget to enjoy the journey of getting there.  Life is like that – we look forward to a wedding, a graduation, a trip, even Heaven, and we get stressed with all the waiting, the planning, the anxiety of how things will turn out, etc.  God blesses us each day with a new adventure to enjoy along the way – He gives us new experiences, new relationships, new opportunities to make our journey exciting, challenging and a joy along...

‘Living His Joy – Why?’ – The question is ‘why should we live His Joy?’  The answer is because those around us are looking for something to give them hope in a world that at time seems hopeless.  I recently read the following from a book entitled ‘God’s Little Lessons on Life’: ‘Handel’s masterpiece, The Messiah, has inspired millions through the centuries. Few know, however, that George Frederick Handel composed The Messiah in approximately three weeks.  The music literally came to him in a flurry of notes and motifs.  He composed feverishly, as if driven by the unseen Composer.  It is also little known that Handel composed the work while his eyesight was failing or...

Call to Prayer for March 28, 2016

‘Living His Joy – Where?’ – We’ve all been somewhere and didn’t want to leave – it was a special place that brought us joy, peace, etc.  If we look back at where we were, it probably wasn’t the place but the people we were with that made our time there so special – family, friends, etc.   We read of David who spent time in a shepherd’s field, on the battlefield, and in the king’s palace BUT he writes that where he found his joy and gladness was when he was in God’s presence – ‘Then will I go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight.  I will praise You with the harp, O God, my God’ (Psalms 43.4).   He also wrote in Psalms 16:11 that ‘You will make known to me...
