Call to Prayer for May 7, 2012

As a little girl, I never questioned that my daddy heard me each time I cried for help or attention.  He would always respond by picking me up, telling me he loved me, or explain to me why I couldn’t get what I wanted.  He loved to share about an incident that happened when I was 2 years old.  He was working on the roof and I somehow climbed up the ladder and began calling and reaching out to him.  He didn’t waste any time responding and getting to me – all the time scared to death that he couldn’t get to me before I fell off the ladder.  As I grew older, my words to him were more of asking for advice and telling him how much I appreciated and loved him.  My daddy...

Do You Know God as Your Father?

Father is one of His names.  Do you know God as your Father? Father, Abba, Daddy…the most intimate name we can call God.  Rarely in the Old Testament is God referred to as Father.  In fact, most of the people spoke of Him as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  They didn’t even closely associate themselves with God.  But when Jesus, God’s One and Only Son, walked the earth, He called God Father and taught His disciples to do the same as seen in the beginning words of the model prayer, “Our Father in heaven,…” God’s Plan From the beginning of time God has wanted you to have a personal relationship with Him.  He willingly sacrificed His Son Jesus as the payment for your...
