Provision needed for church planters in Atlanta

Posted in Urgent Requests | 0 comments

Johnny and Allison Harvey, church planters in Atlanta, sense God has closed every door on their ministry in Atlanta and they are praying and seeking God for what ministry and/or pastoral position He is providing.  As financial support has ended, they need God to intervene.  Pray for their faith to continue, for God to meet every need their family has, and that He will provide a pillar of fire for them to follow as they are earnestly seeking Him.

‘Fruit of the Spirit … Meekness’ (thoughts shared by Martha Ann Carter, 1st Vice President for Georgia WMU/WEM) – Galatians 5:22-23 ‘But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law’.  Instead of meekness, several translations use gentleness while others use humility. Whatever the translation, we know that meekness is not weakness. Someone once explained that meekness is “breaking of a wild horse”. In other words, obedient to the master’s will. My parents taught me many Christian principles. One incident, told by my dad, illustrates his learning meekness…obedience to his...

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.  2 Corinthians 5:7 ‘Fruit of the Spirit … Faithfulness’ (thoughts shared by Barbara Morris, Vice President of Finance for Georgia WMU/WEM) – What does it mean to walk by faith?  It simply means to know Jesus; listen to Him, trust Him, obey Him and worship Him.  Walking by faith and not by sight requires us to go to a place we do not know, one that God will reveal as we walk in obedience and trust Him. Remember Abraham or Moses as great examples.  Walking by faith means that we continue to cling to the dreams God has planted in our heart.  If we choose this path, we must be willing to get out of our comfort zone, to run from what we...

‘Fruit of the Spirit … Faithfulness’ (thoughts shared by Diane Robinson, West Central Area Mission Mobilizer for Georgia WMU/WEM) – What is faith? Do you have faith? The Greek word means “trust”.  The corresponding verb means “believe”.  In Hebrew 11:1, it states, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.” This verse is not so much the definition of faith as it is the description of what it does. The first part, hope for, involves future hope, the second part involves the realities that are unseen. Faith and hope are dependent on each other. Faith is the past (Christ died for our sins) and hope is in the future (Jesus will return...

‘Fruit of the Spirit … Faithfulness’ (thoughts shared by Daphne Youngblood, Support Staff for Georgia WMU/WEM) – This year we have been reflecting on and learning about Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” The simple definition for faithfulness is trustworthy and loyal. The opposite is disobedience.  We know that God is loyal and trustworthy but it seems that we have a tendency to be more faithful to what we think is important rather than what is important to God. Year after year, I remember seeing faithfulness demonstrated in a...
