‘Preparing for a New Year – Activating the Armor’ – (thoughts shared by Jackie Hardy, President of Georgia WMU/WEM) – I recently began a study based on Ephesians 6:10-18 where Paul wrote to the church at Ephesus about being prepared for the battle. I have heard these verses for most of my life, having grown up in a small Baptist church. I have also looked at them deeper through the curriculum of a small group study like Sunday School. ‘Prepared for battle… ’ – This past Saturday I had the privilege of taking my Acteens to Stone Mountain where we participated in a ministry to soldiers preparing to be deployed for battle within the next few months.  Acteens from all across America had collected toiletry items during their Christmas in August project and had shipped them to one of our chaplains, Kenneth Koon, who serves here in Georgia where he ministers to the military and their families.  It was an honor for all of us to interact with these men and women as we thanked them for their service and provided them with these gifts of appreciation and Bibles for them to take on their journey.  They were...

‘The battle is not yours, but God’s… ’ – In 2001, the scripture from 2 Chronicles 20 was a comfort and strength for me and my husband, Jack.  Early in the year, I had surgery for uterine cancer and then a few months later heard the words from my doctor that I had breast cancer. And if that wasn’t enough, my husband was told he had stomach cancer.  As I was going through surgery and radiation that summer, I came across the scripture from 2 Chronicles 20:15, ‘Be not afraid or dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s’.   God knew what I was going through and He was telling me that He was in charge and would take care of it.  As I...
