Call to Prayer for December 18, 2017

As we prepare for Christmas 2017, I wanted to share again the posts related to the weeks of Advent that were shared last year as a reminder of why we celebrate Christmas (the following was originally posted as our Call to Prayer for 12_19_2016) ‘Preparing for Christmas’ (thoughts shared by Daphne Youngblood, support staff for Georgia WMU/WEM) – The fourth week of Advent is about “Peace.” First, let me ask you what you think about when you hear the word peace? Define peace in your own words. Do you think about the lack of peace in your own life or heart? What does the world say peace is? Is the peace from heaven different from the peace in this world? Where does peace...

Call to Prayer for December 11, 2017

As we prepare for Christmas 2017, I wanted to share again the posts related to the weeks of Advent that were shared last year as a reminder of why we celebrate Christmas (the following was originally posted as our Call to Prayer for 12_6_2016)   ‘Preparing for Christmas’ (thoughts shared by Karen Pace, Consultant for Georgia WMU/WEM) – As a child, one of my favorite decorations to hang each year on our tree was a simple paper angel.  It was a personal card sent to me from my Grandpa.  He died when I was in second grade, but each year as I prepare for Christmas, I still hang that paper angel.  Even though I have the words he wrote memorized, I still open it and read his...

Call to Prayer for December 19, 2016

‘Preparing for Christmas’ (thoughts shared by Daphne Youngblood, support staff for Georgia WMU/WEM) – The fourth week of Advent is about “Peace.” First, let me ask you what you think about when you hear the word peace? Define peace in your own words. Do you think about the lack of peace in your own life or heart? What does the world say peace is? Is the peace from heaven different from the peace in this world? Where does peace come from? These are all excellent questions and as we prepare for the biggest holiday of the year, how does peace fit-in when we are so busy? This word “peace” seems to be the very opposite of what many of us experience during this very busy time...

Call to Prayer for December 13, 2016

‘Preparing for Christmas’ (thoughts shared by Daphne Youngblood, Support Staff for Georgia WMU/WEM) – The third week of Advent is about “Rejoicing.” It is important for us to prepare, as we should each day, in Prayer, the Word and Worship.  Let us read the words from, Isaiah 12:2-6, “Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. In the day you will say: ‘Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done, and proclaim that His name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, for He has done glorious...

Call to Prayer for December 6, 2016

‘Preparing for Christmas’ (thoughts shared by Karen Pace, Consultant for Georgia WMU/WEM) – As a child, one of my favorite decorations to hang each year on our tree was a simple paper angel.  It was a personal card sent to me from my Grandpa.  He died when I was in second grade, but each year as I prepare for Christmas, I still hang that paper angel.  Even though I have the words he wrote memorized, I still open it and read his very short message every year.  It warms my heart and reminds me that he loved me.  I was special to him.  I was on his mind and he was intentional to let me know by sending that card. As we enter the second week of advent, it is worth pondering...
