Praying Like Abraham

God called…Abram answered God promised…Abram believed God judged…Abraham prayed…God answered! God and Abram’s relationship is first mentioned in Genesis 12 when God initiates a conversation with Abram.  For the next thirteen chapters of Genesis there are many recorded conversations between God and Abraham.  God shares with Abraham His promises and plans; His will and ways.  One such occasion is found in Genesis 18.  This is where God tells Abraham His concerns about the people of Sodom and Gomorrah.  Abraham pleads a case for the “innocent people in the city”.  He starts by asking if God would spare the place for the sake of fifty people who are in it.  God and Abraham...

Do You Know God is El Chay…Living God?

Isaiah 45:5a says, “I am the Lord, and there is no other, besides me there is no God”.  There are so many attributes that separate the One True God from false gods.  But the truth that our God is living…He hears, speaks, sees, takes action, and walks with us…definitely sets Him in a class all by Himself.  No other god is living and active.  Other gods are made from man’s hands and have to be taken care of by man.  These gods can’t do anything for themselves or for others.  They are dead!  Jesus, the Son of El Chay, is also alive!  Having been raised from the dead, He now sits at the right hand of God’s throne interceding for us.  And we, too, are made alive in Christ as...

Do You Know Jesus is the Man of Sorrows?

Dwight L. Moody (1837-1899) once wrote “When Christ came into the world the first sound He heard was woe-the wail of those mothers in Bethlehem; and from the manger to the Cross, He was surrounded with sorrow.  We are told that He often looked up to Heaven and sighed.  I believe it was because there was so much suffering around Him.  It was on His right hand and on His left-everywhere on earth; and the thought that He had come to relieve the people of the earth of their burdens, and so few would accept Him, made Him sorrowful.  He came for that purpose.  Let the hundreds of thousands just cast their burdens on Him.  He has come to bear them, as well as our sins.”  ...

Do You Know God is El-Kanna?

El-Kanna:  Jealous When defining the word jealous, we often think of words like envy, resentment or rivalry.  But it also means vigilantly guarding something, intolerant of unfaithfulness, or righteous zeal.  The name El-Kanna expresses God’s desire to be first in our hearts and lives.  He desires for us to vigilantly guard our relationship with Him and to remain faithful to Him as He zealously pursues us!  El-Kanna alone is worthy of ALL our devotion and praise; of being number one.  He is jealous for us because He made us, loves us, and wants us for His own!  Meditate on it, Pray it, Believe it—His Word is true. Meditate on it . . . As God instructs in Joshua 1:8 Keep...

Do You Know God is Yahweh-Nissi?

Do You Know God is Yahweh-Nissi?

God is Yahweh-Nissi…the Lord is my Banner At the beginning of Exodus 4, the Lord asked Moses, “What is that in your hand?” and Moses replied, “A shepherd’s staff”.   That staff was a foreshadowing of the name Yahweh-Nissi.  Moses’ staff was always with him, just like Yahweh.  And time after time, God used the staff to demonstrate His protection, provision, and power.  Moses’ staff was held like a banner before the Israelites.  It gave them assurance that Yahweh was always present before them and acting mightily on their behalf.  He does the same for us today if we will simply choose to live under His banner. Meditate on it, Pray it, Believe it—His Word is true. Meditate...
