Call to Prayer for March 12, 2018

‘Love comes from God’ (thoughts shared by Daphne Youngblood, support staff for Georgia WMU/WEM) There was a time in my life when I thought I knew what love was and how to show love to others, but it was based on what I thought they wanted or whatever it took to be liked. If love is based on doing things to get a certain result or a payout, that is not love at all, but it is selfish and self-serving. The love 1 Corinthians 13 speaks about is born only of God. God loved us first and in 1 John 4:19 He proved that when He sent His Son to this earth from heaven to save us. A few weeks ago, my husband and I walked outside and found a girl in our truck attempting to steal from...

Call to Prayer for February 19, 2018

‘Love looks like . . . ‘–  We are in the middle of the ‘Love’ month, but to look around us and to watch the news, there seems to be a shortage on love – real, unconditional love – the kind of love explained by Paul in 1 Corinthians 13 – which we often call the love chapter of the Bible. Yes, we do the cards, the flowers, the candy, and even say ‘I love You!’ – but love isn’t something that is expressed one day out of the year – it isn’t something that we put on the calendar – real love can only be expressed and demonstrated out of a heart that loves God and overflows with His Spirit living within us.   When Paul begins to share what real love looks like in 1...

Call to Prayer for February 6, 2018

We are only a couple of days away from the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics!  The world will be gathering in one place for one cause.  Wouldn’t it be great if the objective was all people together in one place to worship the One True God?  One day . . .  but until then, we have much work to do and many conversations to have, both with God and those He puts in our paths.  Download a prayer guide to use as we join together to pray for athletes, their families, believers, the lost, and our Georgia team who is there sharing the Gospel.  The darkness is great, but His light is alive in every believer there, through His church in South Korea, and...

Call to Prayer for January 29, 2018

As we complete this first month of 2018, I’m sure many of us have set goals for the New Year that we might have already decided it’s just not worth our effort or time to continue to pursue – but God doesn’t want us to quit especially if it’s something He’s asked us to do.  We also sometimes give us on our prayers – the following was originally posted on 1/27/2014 and I wanted to share it with you again as we think about continuing what we have started:   ‘Practice makes perfect . . . ‘–  As a young girl taking piano lessons, my teacher would always remind me of the importance of practicing each week between lessons and not to give up even when I...

Call to Prayer for January 15, 2018

‘New Beginnings from an Old Past’ (thoughts shared by Daphne Youngblood, Support Staff for Georgia WMU/WEM) – January is a time to review the past year and make adjustments where necessary. The new year allows us the opportunity to begin again with a healthier direction. Do you know what lies ahead for you this year? The good news is that we can trust and spend time with the one that does? It says in Genesis 1, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Making plans or goals is fine but not at the expense that we do not listen to the Father and creator of all. We need to learn to hear His voice. It says in James 4:8, “Draw near to God and He will draw...
